Frequently asked questions:

Will you sell me an unweaned baby bird? No, we will not sell a baby until it is fully weaned!

Do you offer a health guarantee? Yes, we offer a 72 hour health guarantee. This means that you have 72 hours to take your new baby bird to a Certified Avian Vet. If the Certified Avian Vet determines that the bird has any illness or disease, we will refund your money upon return of the bird, along with the Certified Avian Vets signed documents stating the condition.

Are your baby birds vet checked? No, we do not take our babies to the vet. All the parent birds have been certified avian vet checked and tested, and are free from disease. However, we do incourage you to take your new baby bird in as part of our guarantee.

Do you sex your babies? On occasion we will have the babies sexed if you ask, but this fee will be added to the cost of the bird, generally around $25.00

What do you wean your babies onto? Our birds are fed a variety of pellets, seed, as well as veggies, fruit, and fresh sprouts.

Can I visit my baby before it's weaned? Yes, we encourage you to if possible. We also try to send photos when time allows, but please do not expect photos, as we would rather spend the time playing and socializing with the babies!

Do you allow your birds to fledge? This is something we feel is VERY important for the birds development. All our baby birds are allowed flying time each day once they are fully feathered. We generally keep them flighted until you are ready to take them home, and will keep them flighted if you request ahead of time.

Are your birds banded? Yes, but on occasion we cannot get the band on if the baby is too large by the time we remove him/her from the nest for handfeeding.

How are your babies socialized? We are a small, home based breeder, and all our birds are raised right in our home with the rest of the "human" family. We take pride in being small. This way we are able to provide ample time with each baby bird we raise. Socialization includes interaction with all the family, as well as friends that visit our home. They are made part of the family from the beginning and used to the everyday household commotion, including other animals,
and "human" children!

Are your babies used to other pets? We also have a pet African Grey, and two cats. Although our babies will be used to other animals, it doesn't mean that "your" other animals will be used to a new baby bird in the home, so supervision is always recommended when your baby bird will be out of the cage!

Will my new baby eventually talk? Your new baby will have the "ability" to talk. Whether it will or not depends on each individual bird and how much interaction it has with the family. You should never buy a parrot with high hopes that it will talk, as there is never any guarantee!

Is it better to have two pet birds share a cage so they won't be lonely? In our opinion, NO! When two birds share the same cage they will most often bond to one another and not their human companions. If your intention is to have a bird that interacts with the family, then we suggest housing the birds in separate cages.

Is male better than female? NO! We see no difference as far as one sex being better than the other. Each bird is unique and it all depends on the individual birds personality. The same is said for talking ability. We know both male and female birds who talk just as well as the other one. It basically boils down to the bird itself, regardless of it's sex!

Do you ship? Yes, but at the buyers expense and risk! Once the bird leaves our hands at the airport we are no longer responsible. We have never had a problem with shipping birds, but we cannot be responsible for layovers, etc...We are located in Minnesota, so shipping also depends on the weather!

What does shipping cost and how is it done? Shipping generally costs $125.00 including the crate fee. This can vary depending on where the bird is being shipped too. We ship our birds with either Delta or Continental airlines.

Do I need to send money to be put on the waiting list? No! If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please e-mail or call us to be added. Please provide what it is you are looking for, your full name, phone number, and e-mail address. Once babies hatch we then contact you to see if you are still interested, and at that time we ask for a non-refundable deposit (1/2 of total cost) to hold your baby until it is fully weaned.

What if I change my mind after I send you a deposit? Once deposits are received they are no longer refundable and you will be out that money.

Can you provide everything I need to get started? Yes, we are able to provide you with a cage, perches, food, and toys. Prices will vary depending on cage size, style, etc... We do not have everything in stock, but if we know in advance, we can get it for you by special order! We want our birds to go to good homes, and sell the above items for reasonable prices to guarantee that our babies are getting a good start in their new homes!

These are a few of the most asked questions from our customers. If you have any other questions not listed above, please e-mail us and we will do our best to get your question answered!
